Rush Poker Tournaments
I have been trying out the Rush Poker Tournaments on Full Tilt lately and frankly I like them even better than Rush Poker Cash Games. The main problem with the cash games is that you better have the nuts when you get your money in because the nuts almost always wins the all-in pots in Rush cash games. People are not willing to gamble when they can simply push the fold button and get another hand

UIGEA, Online Poker and the Gaming Industry
The sands are shifting in the landscape that is online poker. There are movements afoot to further limit players ability to move around cash among the online poker sites, but there are also movements on the legalization fronts. It is shaping up to be an epic battle and hopefully the "good guys win". Just think of the tax dollars from online poker that could be used to solve some of our other

Thanks Full Tilt for bringing us Rush Poker
This may just restore my interest in online poker. For the past year and a half, I have really been much more interested in land-based poker because I get too distracted playing online poker. Online poker just enables my Adult ADD -- I usually have 3-4 tables going and do other things like surf the web between hands. However, Rush Poker could solve that problem. Now I can stay focused playing

Microlimit Tournaments
I have talked in the past about how hard it is playing in low limit tournaments. I much prefer the regular winning of cash games. However, tournament play is thrilling and when you score big it is a great feeling. If you are set on tournament play, I found this to be a great article about Micro-limit play from pokernews.com.

Cover of Viva La Vida by the Dirty Heads
I have talked about these guys in the past, in their own songs they combine reggae, rap and hip hop to provide a great sound. Here they have reggae'd up Viva La Vida, and frankly I like this version than the original. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.

Buy A Basket of Players for the WSOP Main Event
If you enjoy following live poker tournaments, then you have to check out Chipmeup.com. CMU is a staking site where you can buy pieces of other players for both online and live tournaments. If you are an active player with a good tournament record, you can also get staked on the site yourself. This is a great way to step up to bigger buy-in tournaments when you still have a relatively small

Following the WSOP on Twitter
I love the WSOP and wish I could be out there this year, but if you are like me and want to follow the action live -- then hop over to Twitter and follow some of my favorite poker tweeters. I wish some of the bigger names knew how to tweet but many of them talk more about their breakfast than any hand histories. Oh well, hopefully they will learn over time. But these poker tweeters know how to

Cheating in Online Poker
There has been some great discussion recently about the "degrees" of cheating in online poker these days. Everyone should be aware of the scandals at UB and Absolute, but that is really only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to players "gaining an edge" inappropriately. Here are some of the links that I think you should check out to gain a better understanding: Nat Arem write's about the

Skilled based game, Moola
I first heard about Moola.com about a year ago, but at the time the games that they had seemed much more luck-oriented than skill-based. However, since that time they have added some skill games, Gold Rush and Sports Betting in particular, that provide good players the ability to win without needing luck.Moola.com bills itself as a Massively Multiplayer Rewards Game (MMRG) that is kind of like a

Is it Time to Buy a Gun?
I am amazed that Congress rejected the Bailout Bill today. These "high and mighty" politicians have no idea what they are doing. There has not been any lending to anyone for the past two weeks -- that in and of itself assured we were going into a deep recession. Now we are assured that it will go on for another week or two (or longer) and very likely we are heading toward a depression. The

Playing Suited Connectors in Holdem

No New Bracelet for Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth was probably expecting to walk away with his 12th World Series of Poker bracelet from the $1,500 HORSE event this year. Both considering his legendary swollen ego and that he held the lead after an eventful first day. The $1,500 HORSE (not to be confused with the $50,000 HORSE) event drew an impressive 803 participants, the majority of which qualified though online poker

In Memory of George Carlin (1937-2008)
The world lost a great one last night. George Carlin has been pointing out the adsurdities of life for over 50 years and he was a great voice of reason in the comedy field. Unfortunately, he passed yesterday of a heart attack at aged 71. He will truly be missed. Not only was his comedy always cutting edge and outstanding, but he also had some very poignant messages about life. A couple of
